Enhance, explore, enjoy

Park and trail updates are coming to East Gwillimbury this summer! We’re improving some public spaces to better serve our growing community and meet your needs. Throughout the summer temporary construction closures are scheduled to install new playground structures, expand parking, and improve our natural areas at some of our favorite parks and trails in EG.

EG’s park improvement projects are exciting, and we look forward to having you enjoy them once complete, however, to ensure everyone’s safety please follow posted signage and stay clear of fenced-off or closed construction areas, even when the contractor is not on site.

During construction, park, and trail goers are encouraged to find an alternate park or trail to enjoy. For details on parks and trails in EG, please visit the Parks Map page and use the interactive map tool. Details on each park or trail improvement project are below, to learn more click on the project name for more information.

 Vivian Creek Trail Enhancements

Trail status - Open

In partnership with the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority improvements will be made at Vivian Creek Trail, located at 19253 Centre Street in Mount Albert to improve drainage, complete stream restoration, and enhance the wetland.

The project includes the design of a wetland to improve water quality and redirect drainage from the trail system to the proposed wetland, enhancing biodiversity, and the wildlife habitat. The project will also address the management of water and drainage within the project boundaries of Vivian Creek Park, which is causing erosion along the trail. Streambank restoration (the process of stabilizing the sides of the river) will also be completed to help improve the overall usability of the trail.
