The Town of East Gwillimbury (EG) offers multiple options for paying your property tax bill. Please consider processing times when making payments close to due dates to avoid late payment charges.
The 2024 final tax bills were calculated and mailed by June 21, 2024. In the event that you did not receive your bill, please contact the Town office directly at 905-478-4282, and we will re-issue the bill. Failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt the bill from being due or exempt the taxpayer from incurring late payment charges. The due dates for the 2024 final tax bills are:
If your tax account is not current, a pre-set monthly payment can be arranged to help you catch up on tax arrears. Unpaid taxes will be charged 1.25% interest per month effective the first day of default. Failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt the bill from being due or from incurring interest. As the registered property owner, you can update your mailing address at any time to make sure you are receiving your property tax bills. Please fill out our change of address form.

The Town charges a penalty of 1.25% per month on outstanding taxes. This penalty is charged on the first day of each month in compliance with the Municipal Act, 2001. Please note, penalty is not charged on penalty. If you did not receive your tax bill, please contact customer service. Failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt the bill from being due or exempt the taxpayer from incurring late payment charges.

Pre-authorized payment plan (PAP) |
We encourage the payment of your tax bill through the pre-authorized tax payment plan (PAP). Enrollment in PAP can occur at any time in the year when the account is up to date, and the property has been fully assessed. There are three options for PAP:
To join our PAP, please fill out the pre-authorized payment form (property taxes) and email it to our Tax Department. To cancel your PAP plan, or change your banking information on your existing plan, please fill out the property tax and water/sewer bill stop/change form, and email it to our Tax and Water Services Department. |
Online/phone banking through your bank |
You can set the Town up as a payee through online banking and make bill payments at your convenience. Most chartered banks have the payee name listed as East Gwillimbury taxes, your account number is your roll number (including the last four zeros, no spaces or decimal). Please consider the banks processing time when making payments close to due dates. Payments must be received by the due date to avoid late payment charges. If you have complications finding the Town as a payee, please contact your bank directly. |
