York Region has issued a Special Air Quality Statement due to the smoke from the on-going forest fires. Moderate to high-risk Air Quality Health Index values are forecasted. Some precautions you can take during this time:

• Limit exposure outside if you suffer with health issues
• Take precaution of strenuous activities outside or schedule them another day
• Drink water more often

Mark Valcic appointed as East Gwillimbury’s new Chief Administrative Officer

Council appointed Mark Valcic as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the Town of East Gwillimbury, effective June 19, 2023. Mark has worked for the Town since 2009 and previously was the Deputy CAO, General Manager of Corporate Services, and Treasurer. Prior to his time with the Town, Mark worked with several public sector organizations including Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority and the Simcoe Country District School Board.
