Fire Chief McKenzie Announces Retirement

The Town of East Gwillimbury Fire Chief Rob McKenzie has announced he will be retiring from East Gwillimbury Fire and Emergency Services, effective December 31, 2023.

Chief McKenzie joined East Gwillimbury as Fire Chief in 2019. At a Special Council meeting on Thursday, November 2, Mayor Hackson announced she was taking a short-term medical leave for up to three months.

Discussions for East Gwillimbury (EG)’s 2024 budget kick-off next week, on Monday, November 13 at 9 a.m. in Council Chambers at the Civic Centre. Road Closure - Bradford Street

Bradford Street will be closed from Holland Landing Road to Toll Road on Thursday, November 16, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to complete watermain repairs in Holland Landing. Additional information regarding this work is available on the Water and Sewer Services page. Detour routes and signs will be in place. As with all road construction projects, work may be rescheduled due to weather. York Region will provide advance notice whenever possible.

Partial Closure of Nokiidaa Trail

The Nokiidaa Trail underpass at Green Lane will be closed on August 28 and 29 for construction. Residents can still use the Nokiidaa Trail north of the underpass and the parking lot at Green Lane. The trail will re-open daily in the evening at time.
