East Gwillimbury offers a Snow Removal Financial Assistance Pilot program to help seniors and residents with disabilities cover snow removal costs during winter. Eligible residents who hire a service provider to remove snow from their driveways and/or walkways over the 2024 to 2025 winter season will be eligible for a $150 financial grant. 150 grants will be available for this pilot program.

To qualify for the program, the applicant must meet the following:
Applications will be accepted in-person at the Civic Centre (19000 Leslie St.) or East Gwillimbury Sports Complex (1914B Mount Albert Rd.) until April 15, 2025 during regular facility hours.

If you are unable to print the document at home, please bring all the required identification and proof of disability (if under 64 years of age) with you, and a Customer Service representative will assist you with completing the form. Printed copies of the application form are available at the Civic Centre, Sports Complex, and both library branches.
What is the Snow Removal Financial Assistance Program? |
Qualifying homeowners or primary renters who are seniors and/or people with physical disabilities can apply for the Snow Removal Financial Assistance Program to help with costs of hiring a service provider to remove snow from their driveways, windrow and/or walkways that best meet their individual needs. |
What is a windrow? |
A windrow is the snow left at the end of your driveway after a snowplow has cleared a road. |
Is there a deadline to apply for the program? |
Applications received after April 15, 2025 may not be considered. |
What is the maximum grant an applicant can receive? |
The first 150 qualifying applicants will receive a grant of $150. |
When will I receive my $150 grant? |
Qualifying applicants will be issued a cheque following the review and processing of their application. Payment should be expected within four to six weeks. Due to the Canada Post strike, residents will be given the option to pickup cheques at the Civic Center or cheques can be mailed out after the strike. |
How many grants are available for this pilot program? |
The program is limited to 150 qualifying applicants on a first come, first served basis. |
My snow clearing service provider requires advanced payment. When is the earliest I can submit my reimbursement form? |
Once you have hired and paid for a snow-clearing service provider, you may submit your application with proof immediately. Applications received after April 15, 2025, may not be accepted. |
What will the Town accept as proof of snow clearing service? |
A printed receipt or proof of payment from the service provider with your home address is required. |
Who can I hire to clear snow from my driveway and/or walkway? |
You may hire any private contractor that best meets your needs. |
