What happens after I apply?

Here is what you can expect when you see a job posting that interests you:

  1. If you are interested in one of the Town's employment opportunities and meet the qualifications, submit your application, cover letter and resume, online prior to the closing date.
  2. Applications received by the closing date will be screened against the qualifications outlined in the job posting and applicants will be invited to attend an interview. Interviews are held with an interview panel (which is typically 2 to 4 people) and will have behavioural and technical questions. It is possible that additional interviews will be scheduled or separate testing – depending on the position.
If contacted for an interview, please advise if you require accommodation. Accommodations are available for all steps of the recruitment process. Applicants are asked to make their needs known to human resources prior to the step on the process where assistance is required.
  3. After the interview panel identifies the preferred candidate, the individual will be notified, and their references will be contacted.
  4. References will be contacted and a background check (A criminal record check or vulnerable sector screening) will be requested, as required.
  5. People and Belonging will contact the successful candidate and provide a verbal offer and determine a start date.
  6. An offer of employment will be issued. On the first day, the candidate will complete the onboarding forms and other relevant documents.
