Arts and Culture plays an essential role in any community, including the Town of East Gwillimbury.

In 2011, the Town of East Gwillimbury launched a Cultural Mapping project that was the first step towards developing our Municipal Cultural Plan. This plan provides a long-term vision and a strategic plan for cultural development.

The Cultural Plan specifies five goals

  1. Recommend strategies to sustain the heritage and cultural organizations, facilities, services, and activities.
  2. Establish strategies to strengthen community engagement and participation in cultural programs and services.
  3. Strengthen engagement within the cultural sector to support cultural development.
  4. Define strategies to connect the cultural sector to local business and community groups.
  5. Provide the municipality with strategies and recommendations that identify potential partnerships.
