Participate in East Gwillimbury's (EG) Community Cleanup Program! Help keep our neighbourhoods, parks and trails clean by picking up litter and debris. Community members can arrange their own clean up events throughout the year. 

How to participate

  • Email the Environmental team your name, proposed date/time of the clean-up and location for the clean-up activity, and where the filled waste bags will be located after the clean up. If you are organizing a large group event, please include that in your email.
  • Kits can be picked up in Customer Service at the Civic Centre, 19000 Leslie St., Sharon, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Kits contain gloves and garbage bags.

Tips and Reminders

  • Please ensure you wear gloves and thoroughly wash your hands after the clean up.
  • Wear brightly colored or reflective clothing so drivers can see you clearly.
  • If you encounter sharp items (needles and syringes), please leave them in place and report the items immediately to Customer Service who will dispatch Town staff who are trained in their safe handling and disposal.
  • After you complete the clean up, and please email Customer Service or the environment team and the Town will arrange to collect the bags.
  • Share your clean up photos with us by emailing the environment team, or post them on social media with the hashtag #EGCleanup.

Earth Weekend Events

Eco Fair I April 20

Join at for EG's first Eco Fair on April 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the EG Sports Complex. Enjoy electronic waste, battery and textile collection, workshop, native flower planting, free tree seedlings (while quantities last) and more! 

Community Cleanup Day I April 21 

Join us on April 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the EG Sports Complex, Holland Landing Community Centre or Ross Family Complex to give EG a spring clean. Kits will be available for pick up at each location. Highschool students who participate in the cleanup can receive community service hours. Please email the environmental team for details.
