Woodbine 1 will be a state-of-the-art advanced logistics and distribution facility that will kickstart the development of EG’s Highway 404 employment lands.
Loblaw Companies Limited and Choice Properties REIT are building a 1.2 million sq. ft. advanced logistics and distribution centre on Woodbine Ave., just north of Green Lane at the Rice Group development site. This project is the largest employment development project in East Gwillimbury’s history.
The project officially broke ground on August 19, 2022, with a ceremony at the project site. Once complete, the facility will bring up to 1,000 new jobs to the community, $500,000 in annual municipal taxes, and $7 million in development charges, which will be used to fund the construction of parks, trails, roads, and facilities in EG. York Region school boards will also generate approximately $1.5 million in revenue from the project.
Hosted by Job Skills, Loblaw is hosting an information session October 10 at Job Skills Office located at 130 Davis Drive, Unit 14 in Newmarket, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
