The Operations Centre is located at 19850 Woodbine Avenue is a 57,000 sq. ft. facility that will support critical Town infrastructure and core services. The facility will support over 120 full-time and seasonal staff throughout the year. With brand new, state-of-the-art training spaces, various efficiency and environmental features, electronic vehicle charging stations and much more, this facility is a great addition to the Town.
“We are extremely proud of this new facility, which includes innovative environmental features as well as our first-ever green house and tree farm. We are excited to invite our residents to tour the facility just as soon as it is safe to do so” says Mayor Virginia Hackson. “This new Operations Centre is something our Town has needed for some time, and we are very proud that it has been built with no cost to our residents, maintaining Council’s commitment to our fiscal responsibility. Our next step will be to explore options for the site of the current Works Yard and we will be engaging our community in this process.”
The Town of East Gwillimbury (EG) built a new Operations facility on Woodbine Avenue, north of Doane Road with quick access to Highway 404. Construction of the Operations Centre began in 2018 and was completed in early 2021. This new location supports important operational services for the Town, including:
The construction of the Operations Centre was primarily funded through development-related charges instead of tax funding. The previous site location (behind the East Gwillimbury Sports Complex) was insufficiently sized to provide the appropriate support for staff. The new facility provides enough space for:
