Council Highlights from the February 21 Meeting:
Automated Speed Enforcement Program – Newmarket presented details related to its automated speed enforcement program. This program would implement a municipal speed camera that can capture images and issue tickets to vehicles traveling above the speed limit. East Gwillimbury currently has one camera in Holland Landing, which is owned and operated by York Region. Committee directed staff to investigate the program further and report back on a possible partnership with Newmarket.
Strategic Plan Annual Report – Staff presented the 2023 Strategic Plan Annual Report. The Report outlines major municipal projects and accomplishments from 2023 in relation to the Town’s Strategic Plan. The final plan will set out the overall vision and policies related to the area it covers. The Secondary Plan will address items such as height and density of development, what roads and trails are needed, where schools and parks will go, and more.
The first public information session about the Plan will be held on March 21 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Temperance Hall, located at 18974 Leslie Street. To sign up for updates on this project and more information visit www.eastgwillimbury.ca/completecommunities.
