York Region is making improvements to Mount Albert Road and Cupples Farm Lane/Royal Oak Road intersection in East Gwillimbury. This construction is for a new pedestrian crossing called a pedestrian crossover in the Highway Traffic Act. It includes signs, pavement markings and flashing lights to define the crossing area, increase visibility and driver awareness.
Work is scheduled to commence as early as July and will be completed within six months. Work will occur Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The road will remain open to traffic; however, temporary lane restrictions may be required. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained.
As with all construction projects, work may be rescheduled due to weather. York Region will provide advance notice
where possible.
