Business Support

The Economic Development team is available to support businesses through their ongoing recovery and assist with navigating programs and resources. New programs are being announced frequently and shared on our COVID-19 Business Support page.

Ontario COVID-19 Small Business Relief Grand (OSBRG)

The OSBRG application portal is now open! OSBRG provides a one-time payment of $10,000 to eligible small businesses that were required to close indoor operations because of the province’s modified Step 2 restrictions. Small businesses eligible for the OSBRG include restaurants and bars, before and after-school programs, meeting or event spaces, museums, historic sites, and more. Applications are open until March 11, 2022, visit www.ontario.ca/COVIDsupport for details.

Free Tourism Training / Skills Advance Ontario

SkillsAdvance Ontario (SAO) directly supports jobseekers, providing them with job readiness training services, sector- specific training, and support services. SAO also helps by directly connecting jobseekers with suitable employers. This program, which is provided FREE for eligible participants, from the Government of Ontario will help prepare you for a future career in the post-pandemic Tourism and Hospitality workforce. Free SAO training is only available until March 31, 2022. Visit www.freetourismtraining.ca to sign up today.

EG TOPS CANADA’S GROWING MUNICIPALITIES LIST

Census Canada released data indicating that East Gwillimbury is the fastest growing municipality (with at least 5000 inhabitants) in Canada with a 44.4% increase in population from 2016 to 2021. More information can be found in our News Feed.

FAMILY DAY CLOSURES

The Civic Centre will be closed on Monday, February 21 for Family Day and re-open on Tuesday, February 22 at 8:30 a.m. If you have an emergency with regards to water, sewers, roads, parks or recreation facilities, please call 905-478-4282.

PROPERTY TAXES DUE

2022 property tax bills were mailed by January 14, 2022. Payments are due on February 28 and April 29. Payments can be made at your bank, online/phone banking or through a pre-authorized payment plan. Please contact the Town at 905-478- 4282 or send us an email for any questions

2022 DOG LICENSES

The deadline to purchase 2022 dog licenses is Monday, February 28. Licenses are $37.70 per dog or $27.90 for seniors 65 and older. To learn more about EG’s Animal Care and Control By-law, or to purchase a dog license, visit our Animal Control page

2022 EG FARMERS MARKET APPLICATIONS

Applications to join the EG Farmers Market for the 2022 season are open! If you’re a local farmer or vendor interested in joining us on Thursday’s from 2 to 7 p.m. throughout the summer, please visit the Farmers Market page for details and to apply.

WINTER COLLECTION REMINDERS

When placing garbage and bins out for collection, please place materials on your driveway and not on or behind snowbanks. Items placed out for collection should be placed on the right side of your driveway as you face the road to ensure our waste collection crews see the material and can safely collect it.

Medical masks, gloves and disinfectant wipes belong in the garbage. Please do not place these items in the recycling bin. To search how to properly dispose of your waste, visit our Collection Schedule page to use the Recycle Coach App.
