Do you have a fire hydrant in front of your home or business? The EG Fire and Emergency Service team is asking for your help to keep fire hydrants clear of snow. In return, we'll enter your name for a chance to win a $50 gift card to a local restaurant.
Obstructed fire hydrants can create a delay in firefighting operations. Every time it snows, help your emergency service team by shoveling one meter (three feet) of snow from around the hydrant so it is easily accessible in the event of an emergency.
If firefighters arrive at a scene and it is not immediately clear where the hydrant is located or room to access it, time could be wasted trying to locate it and dig it out.
Your shovel and a few minutes of your time could help save a life.
During or after clearing one meter of snow from around a fire hydrant in your neighbourhood, snap a picture of you and the hydrant. Send the picture to fireprevention@eastgwillimbury.ca with your full name and your neighbourhood.
There will be four separate draws for Sharon, Queensville, Holland Landing and Mount Albert residents.
Fire hydrants do not need to be in front of your property for you to participate.
