East Gwillimbury concludes its exciting Summer of Parks with the official opening of Beechwood Park

Beechwood Park makes 11. East Gwillimbury’s Summer of Parks makes its final stop for the year at Beechwood Park. EG’s newest place to play is located in the Winged Foot development in Holland Landing.

The park features a half-court basketball, junior and senior playground equipment, shade structure, and the Town’s largest lit baseball diamond. A pollinator-friendly seed mix was spread on a hill, near the park to grow plants that will support pollinators in the area. Park visitors can also enjoy a Beechwood Trail across from the park in the mature woodlot. Access to the trail is available at the parkette across the street from Beechwood Park.

“This summer is one for the history books as we celebrate the opening of much needed recreational space in our community,” said Mayor Virginia Hackson. “All of the parks and trails we opened this summer showcase East Gwillimbury’s commitment to smart growth and building complete communities with recreational opportunities right in our neighbourhood.”

Beechwood Park was constructed over 10 months and cost $1.3 million. This park was funded entirely through development charges, which build the parks, trails, roads, and facilities we use every day. To find a park or trail near you, visit the Parks page and use the interactive parks mapping tool.
