East Gwillimbury (EG) is excited to once again receive the Canadian Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The Town was recognized for the 2022 Annual Financial Report, which reflects its outstanding financial management and commitment to transparency.

The Canadian Award for Financial Reporting is presented to municipalities that produce high-quality, easy-to-read financial reports that exceed the regular program requirements. The GFOA recognizes municipalities that promote excellence and celebrate various areas of public finance across North America. This is the Town’s fifth year receiving this award which highlights its commitment to creating resident-friendly documents that tell the Town’s financial story engagingly.

“I am extremely honoured to be celebrating East Gwillimbury’s fifth consecutive year as the recipient of the Canadian Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This award reflects our strong financial integrity, accountability, and management,” says Mayor Virginia Hackson. “This award would not be possible without the dedication and hard work of our Finance team who deliver quality reports that reflect the municipality’s finances in a transparent and engaging format.”
