East Gwillimbury (EG) received the Canadian Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the 2021 Annual Financial Report. EG is one of 17 municipalities in Ontario that received recognition for their financial reporting in 2021.

The Canadian Award for Financial Reporting is presented to municipalities that produce high-quality, easy-to-read financial reports that go above and beyond the regular program requirements. The GFOA recognizes municipalities that promote excellence and celebrate various areas of public finance across North America. This is the Town’s fourth year receiving this award which highlights its commitment to creating resident-friendly documents that tell the Town’s financial story in an engaging way.

“It is truly an honour to again be recognized for our financial reporting. This is the fourth consecutive year EG has been the recipient of the Canadian Award for Excellence which speaks to the competent financial team we have at EG,” said Mayor Virginia Hackson. “With Council, I am proud of our team, the great work they do, and for continuing to deliver quality reports that reflect the finances of our debt-free municipality in an engaging resident-friendly format.
