A look back –  
February 11, 2025 Education Workshops - 6 p.m. 

Two presentations took place during the workshop evening: Growth Management, and Sponsorship and Naming Rights in EG. You can watch the video here.  

A look ahead – 
February 19, 2025 – Committee of the Whole Council – 2 p.m. 

An administrative memo on the Town’s Assessment of Potential Tariffs is on the agenda.  

Corporate Services will bring forward the Multi-Year Accessibility Plan - 2024 Annual Status Report, as well as a memo on the Town’s Climate Adaptation Plan for Community engagement.  

Parks, Recreation and Culture will share a memo on recent securing of funding through the Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) Program Expansion grant through the Province of Ontario.

A special meeting of Council will follow the CWC.

An exciting recognition will take place at Council for Amelia Wilkinson, Goaltender for Team Canada, gold medallists of the 2025 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) under-18 Women's World Championships! Join us in celebrating EG’s home-grown talent.

Civic Centre Closure
The Civic Centre will be closed on Monday, February 17 for Family Day. If you have an emergency with regards to water, sewers, or roads, please call 905-478-4282 and press option 3. Find our Holiday hours of operation at eastgwillimbury.ca/Holidays.

Winter Weather Reminders
EG is expected to get a large amount of snow! Here are some winter reminders to keep in mind:

  • When it snows or snow clearing crews are active, please keep vehicles and waste collection bins off the road.
  • If you have a fire hydrant near your property, clear one metre of snow from around it in case of an emergency.
  • Ensure all outdoor vents and pipes along your home are clear of snow.
  • There is no street parking when it is snowing.
  • Do not let vehicles overhang onto the road or sidewalks when parked.

Climate Change Adaptation Plan
EG is developing a Climate Adaptation Plan and needs your input.
Last year, EG identified the potential impacts of changing weather patterns. This is the initial work to define actions to help mitigate those impacts and be better prepared. Join us at our workshops to provide your feedback on the Climate Adaption Plan.

  • February 26 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. – Holland Landing Community Centre
  • February 27 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. – Ross Family Community Centre
  • March 6 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. – Civic Centre
  • March 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. – Civic Centre or virtual (Marginalized Communities)

Snow Clearing Assistance Program
Calling all EG residents! EG is offering a snow removal grant to residents aged 65 and older or those with disabilities. Space is limited. Apply by April 15, 2025, online or in person at the Civic Centre or Sports Complex Customer Service desks. For more details, visit eastgwillimbury.ca/SnowAssistance.

Notice of Aerial Application of Larvicide to Control Larval Mosquitoes
Weather permitting, beginning March 31 until May 31, the biological larvicide VectoBac 200G [PCP#18158, granular formulation] will be applied by helicopter to select standing water mosquito breeding habitats within EG. View the treatment areas at eastgwillimbury.ca/mosquito. This product contains B.t.i., which is specific to mosquito larvae. Mortality results within 24 hours; the larvicide biodegrades within 72 hours. The EG Farmers Market is looking for vendors! Black History Month
The flag raising planned for Thursday, February 13 in collaboration with the York Region Alliance of African Canadian was cancelled due to the Significant Weather Event declaration in the town. Please join EG throughout this month for Black History Month events at eastgwillimbury.ca/BHM.

Family Fun Day
Bring your family and join us for Family Fun Day on February 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the EG Sports Complex! This event is free and is suitable for all ages. Summer camp registration opens and will be available for EG residents to register in-person from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Customer Service desk. Summer camp resident registration is also available online. Enjoy:

Holland Landing Food Pantry
The East Gwillimbury Public Library hosts a Food Pantry for families and individuals in need. The pantry is held at the Holland Landing Community Centre, 19513 Yonge Street, Holland Landing. If you or someone you know requires this service, access the Food Pantry on the last Saturday of the month unless stated otherwise. The Holland Landing Food Pantry accepts monetary and non-perishable donations. Please visit the Library’s Food Pantry page for more information about how to access or donate.
