Upcoming Council Meetings

A look back –
Special Meeting of Municipal Council – January 14 at 10 a.m. 
The East Gwillimbury Integrity Commissioner provided a presentation – “Proposed Updated Town of East Gwillimbury Council/ Committee Code of Conduct Workshop.” 

A look ahead –  
January 21 – Committee of the Whole Council (CWC) Meeting – 2 p.m. 
Engineering and Public Works will bring forward a report on the Blue Bin Transition, set to take place later this year.  
A joint Corporate Services and Fire and Emergency Service presentation will be brought forward: Fire and Emergency Service Review Final Update. 
A Development Services report will bring forward several street naming requests.  

A Special Meeting of Council will follow the CWC Meeting. 
Council Meeting – 6 p.m. 
Development Services will bring forward a memo on Part Lot Control Exemption By-law for RCH (Anchor Woods) Homes Inc.  
Legal and Legislative Services will bring forward a memo to appoint a Municipal Poundkeeper. 

The next Council meetings are on:

Ridge View Park Outdoor Rink Is Open!
Embrace the winter weather and use EG’s newly opened outdoor skating rink! The rink at Ridge View Park (16 Pear Blossom Way) is open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and features outdoor lights. This rink is used for skating only. Learn more at eastgwillimbury.ca/Parks.

Winter Weather Reminders
Here are some winter reminders when snow is in the forecast:

  • When it snows or snow clearing crews are active, please keep vehicles and waste collection bins off the road.
  • If you have a fire hydrant near your property, clear one metre of snow from around it in case of an emergency.
  • Ensure all outdoor vents and pipes along your home are clear of snow.
  • There is no street parking when it is snowing.
  • Do not let vehicles overhang onto the road or sidewalks when parked.

Snow Clearing Assistance Program
East Gwillimbury is offering a snow removal grant to residents aged 65 and older or those with disabilities. Space is limited. Apply by April 15, 2025, online or in person at the Civic Centre or Sports Complex Customer Service desks. For more details, visit eastgwillimbury.ca/SnowAssistance.

EV Charging Stations
On January 21, 2025, Council will consider final approval of a new usage fee structure for EV Charging stations. If approved on January 21, this change will become part of ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance local EV infrastructure.  
Fee structure:  

  • $2/hour while actively charging  
  • $4/hour while plugged in but not charging (with a 30-minute grace period from completed charge)  

Publicly available charging stations in EG:  

  • Civic Centre (19000 Leslie Street, Sharon)  
  • EG Sports Complex (1914B Mount Albert Road, Sharon)  
  • EG Operations Centre (19850 Woodbine Avenue, Queensville)  
  • Holland Landing Community Centre (19513 Yonge Street, Holland Landing)  
  • Ross Family Complex (19300 Centre Street, Mount Albert)

Keep a close eye on your mail so you don't miss the 2025 Waste Calendar! EG’s 2025 Waste Calendars are being mailed out to homes and should arrive this week. If you are too excited to wait for it in the mail, you can grab a copy at the Civic Centre or Sports Complex Customer Service desk. Never miss a collection or a notice with the Recycle Coach App!
