Highlights from the June 18 Council Workshop
Fire and Emergency Services held a workshop to review EG’s refreshed Fire Master Plan.
A look ahead to the June 25 Council Meetings
Committee of the Whole Council at 2 p.m.
- An award presentation will take place to recognize Ontario’s 2024 Senior of the Year.
- Arts and Culture Advisory Committee announcing its Culture Crawl event, proposed for October 5.
- The 2023 Draft Audited Financial Statements from KPMG will be presented.
- EG’s 2024 Development Charge By-law Amendment is on the agenda. The Development Charges Act enables municipalities to impose a charge on new development to recover growth-related capital costs. Development charges are an important revenue source for EG.
- Several reports and memos from Corporate Services are on the agenda this week:
- EG’s 2024 Regulatory Asset Management Plan (AMP) explains how the Town will maintain assets to provide services to residents in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective manner.
- The Council Compensation Review Report provides an update and recommends next steps
- EG’s Communications branch has two memos on the agenda – Communications Survey Results and Brand Guidelines Update.
- Parks, Recreation and Culture has two reports on the agenda for the Health and Active Living Plaza regarding Food and Fitness services.
- A Zoning By-Law Amendment for 17743 McCowan Road.
- A memo on EG’s Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (ICI) Sanitary Allocation Update.

Upcoming Public Meeting
Have your say! EG is hosting a Public Meeting on June 25 at 6 p.m. at the EG Civic Centre (19000 Leslie Street) to discuss an Official Plan amendment for 18642 Leslie Street. The Applicant is seeking to add site-specific provisions to the existing “Village Core” designation for the development of 18 duplexes, one triplex, and to retain the existing heritage dwelling on the property. York Region is completing various construction projects in Town:
Leslie Street
York Region is completing guide rail improvements on Leslie Street from Queensville Sideroad to Holburn Road. Construction takes place from June to July 2024. Learn more on York Region's website.

York Region is completing road preservation from July to August 2024 on Green Lane from Bathurst Street to 2nd Concession. Learn more on York Region's website.

Highway 11

Join York University’s YSpace for Business Foundations, covering vital business management aspects. The virtual workshop series runs weekly from June 25 to August 27, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Topics include market research, business operations setup, business plan development, mental well-being, branding strategies, and more.
Attend at least seven out of nine workshops to receive an Innovation York Certificate of Completion, showcasing your dedication to entrepreneurship essentials.
