(East Gwillimbury, ON) March 22, 2022 – Together with East Gwillimbury’s 55’n Up Club, the Mayor and Members of Council officially opened the renovated Loft space at the Sports Complex today.
The Loft area, previously used as office space, was converted to an open area with comfortable seating and room for activities, learning, and socializing. A kitchenette is also available for refreshments. “It’s so important for our community members to have a space where we they can meet and make friends,” said Mayor Virginia Hackson “This newly renovated space provides a great place for people to connect with others, socialize, learn and participate in activities. After two years of COVID-19, this is important, now more than ever.”
The renovations were made possible through a $25,000 Seniors Community Grant (SCG) from the Ontario Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility.
“I’m excited about the opportunities the new space brings to the seniors community of East Gwillimbury,” said Bill Potts, President of the East Gwillimbury 55’n Up Club, “This is a place where seniors can meet, learn and connect.” The Loft will be home to the EG 55'n Up Club for drop-in programs and activities, Monday to Friday daily. The space will also be available for youth during the evenings and weekends.
