NOTICE OF THE PASSING OF A DEVELOPMENT CHARGES AMENDMENT BY-LAW BY THE COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF EAST GWILLIMBURY
TAKE NOTICE that on June 25, 2024, the Council of the Town of East Gwillimbury passed By-law 2024-053, which amends certain sections of the Town’s Development Charge By-law 2024-033. Both by-laws comply with the requirements of the Development Charges Act, 1997.
The Development Charges (DC) imposed by By-law 2024-033, as amended by By-law 2024-053, shown in Schedule I, are levied against all new development in the Town of East Gwillimbury and are required to pay for the increased capital costs related to the provision of municipal services resulting from growth. The scope of the amendment was limited to the addition of costs related to growth-related studies into the DC framework, the adjustment of the rate freeze time-period for applicable developments, and removal of the five-year phase-in of approved rates, as permitted by Bill 185, Cutting Red Tape to Build More Homes Act, 2024.
A key map has not been included in this notice for By-law 2024-053 as development charges are levied on all lands designated within the Official Plan boundaries.
The complete by-laws are available for examination during regular business hours (weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) at the Town of East Gwillimbury located at 19000 Leslie Street, Sharon, Ontario and on the Town’s website at www.eastgwillimbury.ca/developmentcharges.
