Are Emergency Vehicle Lights Green?
In EG, they are! A flashing green light on a regular vehicle means that one of our paid on-call firefighters is responding to an emergency. Our department is comprised of paid on-call and full-time firefighters. This means that our paid on-call firefighters travel from their homes to the fire station when there is an emergency. These paid on-call firefighters rely on a flashing green light to tell other motorists to pull over.

To help our paid-on-call firefighters get through traffic, slow down and pull over to let them by. This will help to ensure a quick response and could help save lives!

End Hate in York Region
York Regional Police reported an increase in hate incidents in recent years. In 2023, they report that the most common motivational factors for hate crimes were race/ethnicity (46%) and religion (38%). Between 2022 and 2023, hate crimes motivated by religion and sexual orientation increased the most compared to other motivational factors.

No one should feel unsafe simply because of who they are. We all have a role to play to make sure York Region is a welcoming, inclusive and safe place for everyone.
