Council Highlights

A look back –  

EG’s Budget Committee heard the proposed 2025 Water and Wastewater Business Plan and Budget on November 26. Visit EG’s website for more information on the 2025 Budget process. 

A look forward – 

Committee of the Whole Council (CWC) December 3, 2024 - 10 a.m. 

York Region Paramedics will provide updates on the Paramedic Services Master Plan 2021-2031 and Dispatch Modernization. YRPS Pres.

EG’s Integrity Commissioner will share a memo on a proposed update to the EG Council/ Committee Code of Conduct. IC Memo - Proposed Updated EG Code of Conduct 

The proposed 2025 Statutory, Public and Holiday Closure Schedule for EG will be in front of the CWC. CS2024-16 2025 Proposed Statutory, Public, Holiday Closure Schedule 

The Parks, Recreation and Culture (PRC) department is bringing forward Naming Rights and Sponsorship Policies for approval. PRC2024-12 Naming Rights and Sponsorship 

A report on Short-Term Rental Accommodation (STRAs) is on the agenda. The report provides an update on EG’s current administration and enforcement of STRAs. It includes information on current regulations, the volume of complaints received, and the number of estimated STRA listings in the Town. DS2024-34 Short Term Rental Accommodations 

A special meeting of Council will follow the CWC Meeting.

The Budget Committee recommended amendments to the Mayor’s Budget are on the agenda. Budget Committee meetings were held on November 18, 20 and 27, 2024. A full list of the amendments can be found here

Canada Post Strike
Due to the Canada Post strike, all residents can pick up their water bill during regular business hours at the Civic Centre or:

December 5 from 12 to 8 p.m. at:

  • Ross Family Complex (Mount Albert residents only)
  • EG Sports Complex (Sharon and Queensville residents only)
  • Holland Landing Library (Holland Landing residents only)

OR

December 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at:

  • Ross Family Complex (Mount Albert residents only)
  • EG Sports Complex (Sharon and Queensville residents only)
  • Holland Landing Library (Holland Landing residents only)

Note: Residents will be required to present a piece of photo ID to pick up their bill.

Yard Waste
Yard waste collection takes place every other week. Place yard waste in compostable bags or open top containers (labelled as yard waste) with the rest of your collection bins. The last day for yard waste collection is December 14. Download the Recycle Coach App to receive personalized waste collection reminders and schedule changes!

Winter Parking Reminders
Winter is coming which means winter parking regulations are in effect! What are the regulations in EG? See below:

  • Do not park on the street during snow clearing operations
  • Do not overhang onto the street or sidewalk
  • All Parking Consideration Forms are not valid during a winter weather event

Toy and Food Drive
EG’s annual Toy and Food Drive wants to make the holidays a little brighter! Donations of non-perishable food items, gift cards, new unwrapped toys, toiletries and more are being accepted until Monday, December 16, 2024.

Snow Clearing Assistance Program
EG is offering a Snow Removal Financial Assistance Pilot Program for residents over 65 or residents with a disability.

Today is the last day to share your thoughts on older adult programs in EG!

Mount Albert Parade Road Closure
Santa Claus is coming to Mount Albert on Saturday, December 7 at 11 a.m. for the Mount Albert Community Santa Claus Parade. The affected streets below will be closed starting at 10:30 a.m.:

  • King Street
  • Princess Street
  • Shannon Road
  • Main Street
  • Victoria Street
  • Albert Street
  • Birchard Boulevard
  • Centre Street

Flag Raising
Join us for a flag raising outside of the Civic Centre on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 9 to 9:30 a.m. for International Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. The ceremony is being held in collaboration with the Yellow Brick House. The ceremony will also be live streamed on our Facebook page. Everyone is invited to join.
