A look back - Committee of the Whole Council (CWC) – October 8, 10 a.m.
York Region Transit’s Manager of Service Planning made a presentation regarding 2025 initiatives and transit improvements within EG. Parks, Recreation and Culture also brought forward a related Report: York Region Transit (YRT) and the Health and Active Living Plaza.
EG’s Corporate Services provided information regarding emissions at the corporate and community level and reported on the actions, policies and programs being developed to reduce emissions from Town operations, and provide alternatives to residents and businesses. See event info below for ways that you can reduce emissions in your own home!
Engineering and Public Works brought forward a memo to provide Council with background information for a potential Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) program, to receive feedback. Staff will now move to the next steps for this program.
A look ahead
Next week, EG will hold a Special Council meeting with the purpose being to hold information workshops. The topics for the workshops will be an update from Fire and Emergency Service, and an update from the Parks, Recreation and Culture team on the Health and Active Living Plaza.

Civic Centre Closure
The Civic Centre will be closed on Monday, October 14 and will reopen on Tuesday, October 15 at 8:30 a.m. If you have an emergency with regards to water, sewers, or roads, please call 905-478-4282 and press option 3.

- Basketball Drop-in at Harvest Hills Activity Centre on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m.
- Beginner Pickleball Drop-in at Ross Family Complex (19300 Centre Street) on Tuesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
- Advanced Pickleball Drop-in at Ross Family Complex (19300 Centre Street) on Tuesdays from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
- Youth Volleyball Drop-in at Ross Family Complex (19300 Centre Street) on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
- Youth Pickleball Drop-in at Ross Family Complex (19300 Centre Street) on Saturdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

EG's Draft Tree Protection By-law
The Town has developed a draft Tree Protection By-law for private properties to protect mature trees in EG. The goal of the by-law is to protect the Town’s existing tree canopy while also preserving natural heritage areas throughout the community. Learn more at www.eastgwillimbury.ca/Trees
Santa Claus is Coming to EG

EG is hosting Older Adult Open Houses to gain feedback on our older adult programs. Join us at one of the sessions below to learn about older adult programs in EG, suggest changes to programming or suggest new programs:

- November 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the East Gwillimbury Sports Complex at (1914B Mount Albert Road)
- November 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Ross Family Complex (19300 Centre Street)

Coyote Information Session
The Town of Aurora, EG’s contracted wildlife service provider, is hosting a public information session to educate residents on how to coexist with coyotes in urban environments. Join in person on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Aurora Town Hall, Council Chambers at 100 John West Way or virtually on the Town of Aurora's Youtube channel. Giant Used Book Sale
The East Gwillimbury Public Library’s annual Giant Used Book Sale is coming up! Select from hundreds of gently used books, DVDs, and CDs. There are no fixed prices on items, simply pay by donation and help the Library raise money for a Makerspace makeover!

- Early bird access; get first dibs on items
- Admission is $5 per person or $10 per family
