Provincial Municipal Modernization Program: Intake #3 - EG plans to submit a joint application with the Town of Georgina for grant funds that would support the updates to the Fire Master Plan for both municipalities as well as a joint service review, including the potential for a shared service arrangement with the Town of Georgina.

Covid-19 Updates - A staff memo was presented to Council outlining key Town COVID-19 updates. Items covered in the memo include lifting the Town’s State of Emergency, public access to the Civic Centre and proof of vaccination requirements for entering Town recreation facilities. 2022 Council Meeting Schedule - Council approved the proposed schedule of Council meetings for 2022. Recognizing that the municipal election will take place on Monday, October 24, 2022, the final meeting of the 2018-2022 term of Council will be on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. The inaugural meeting for the 2022-2026 Term of Council will take place on November 15, 2022. The 2022 Council Meeting schedule is available online

Safe Drinking Water Act - Staff presented a report to Council detailing the Town’s compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act and that the Town continues to maintain its municipal drinking water licenses and permits.

Winter Operations - Staff provided a summary of the 2020-21 winter operations and the plan for the upcoming season.

Salt use has decreased by 50% since 2015. The reduction is largely due to using the right amount of material at the right time. Recent installation of weather monitoring equipment is also helping to deploy equipment and material more efficiently. The annual cost for winter maintenance is approximately $2M per year or $39,000 per event.

For the upcoming season, the winter maintenance team will operate out of the newly constructed Operations Centre. The Town is also piloting the use of brooms on some sidewalks to minimize the potential for sod damage with sidewalk plowing operations.

The Town manages 10 road routes and 5 sidewalk routes for a core winter season from November 15th to March 31st. This covers 459 Km of roads and 110 km of sidewalk for the municipality.

Ontario Loft Renovations Funding Approved - Council approved the use of the Ontario Loft in the EG Sports Complex by the East Gwillimbury 55 ‘n Up Club. While funding for renovations to the Ontario Loft were planned for the 2022 Capital Budget process, Council passed a motion directing staff to undertake renovations by the end of 2021 using current year funds not to exceed $50,000.
