Upcoming Council Meetings Banner

A look forward - Committee of the Whole Council (CWC) – October 8 at 10 a.m. 
York Region Transit’s (YRT) Manager of Service Planning will make a presentation regarding 2025  initiatives within EG. Parks, Recreation and Culture will bring forward a related Report: YRT and the Health and Active Living Plaza. 

EG’s Corporate Services will provide information regarding emissions at the corporate and community level, and will report on the actions, policies and programs being developed to reduce emissions from Town operations and provide alternatives to residents and businesses. 

Development Services is bringing forward a report recommending the adoption of the Sharon Heritage Conservation District (HCD) Study. If adopted, this would then direct staff to proceed to Phase 2 of the Sharon HCD project in accordance with the proposed district boundaries. 

Engineering and Public Works will bring forward a memo to provide Council with background information for a potential Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) program and receive feedback. Based on this feedback, staff will return to Council with a pilot framework for consideration. 
 
Legal and Legislative Services will seek Council’s endorsement of the 2025 Council Meeting Schedule and the proposed dates for the 2026 Business Plan and Budget deliberation.

EG's Draft Tree Protection By-law

EG is hosting Older Adult Open Houses to gain feedback on our older adult programs. Join us at one of the sessions below to learn about older adult programs in EG, suggest changes to programming or suggest new programs:

Fire Prevention Week
Fire Prevention Week is October 6 to 12! This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is, “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!” Be part of the solution: install, test and replace your smoke alarms. Smoke alarms reduce the risk of death in a home fire by more than half. Learn more at www.nfpa.org

Coyote Information Session
The Town of Aurora, EG’s contracted wildlife service provider, is hosting a public information session to educate residents on how to coexist with coyotes in urban environments. Fungi Identification Trail Walk
Join us for a trail walk and discussion on October 6 from 10 to 11 a.m. led by the team of Molly Shannon and Carmine Alfano, through the Beechwood Woodlot. Both have cultivated a deep understanding of native flora, particularly in the realm of fungi. As an environmental science graduate with post-graduate training in ecosystem management, Molly has had almost a decade of leading nature-based hikes with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority. Organized by the Active Transportation and Trails Committee.
