The Municipal Election is 10 days away, taking place on Monday, October 24. EG voters can cast their ballots before Election Day, during the Advance Vote period online or in-person. Residents are encouraged to exercise their democratic right to elect their municipal representatives who will oversee a wide range of municipal programs, services, and projects over a four-year term.
To vote in the Municipal Election, here’s what you need to know:
All eligible EG voters will elect one candidate at-large for mayor, two ward councillors, and one school board trustee. Please note, the councillors for ward one are acclaimed. Ward one voters are encouraged to vote for a mayoral candidate and school board trustee.
You can vote in EG’s 2022 Municipal Election if you are:
Eligible EG voters can only vote once using their preferred voting method. For example, if you vote online, you cannot vote in-person. Voter Information Letters (VIL) were mailed to voters the week of September 26. The letter contains your ward, secure voting website and PIN, and information on voting on Election Day and during the Advance Vote period. VILs are personal and should only be opened and used by the addressee. It is illegal to vote or open a VIL that isn’t addressed to you.
If you didn’t receive your VIL or received multiple VILs, including for yourself or someone who no longer lives at your property, please contact the Elections team at elections@eastgwillimbury.ca or 289-580-9774 for assistance.
Online voting is a secure, convenient, and accessible voting method that allows residents to vote using a smartphone, tablet or computer anytime, anywhere. To cast your ballot online:
Residents who require access to the internet can visit a voting location during the Advance Vote period to vote using a secure Town computer.
Vote in-person using a paper ballot or online using a secure computer at the East Gwillimbury Sports Complex, Ross Family Complex or Holland Landing Community Centre on:
Assistive Voting Technology is available by appointment at the Civic Centre, 19000 Leslie St., Sharon during the Advance Voting period for voters who require support with casting their ballot. Appointments are available on October 17, 18, 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Vote in-person on Monday, October 24 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. using a paper ballot at any voting location in your ward. The following facilities are voting locations in EG:
