Council Highlights

A look back - Committee of the Whole Council – September 4, 2024, 10 a.m.

The EG  Draft 2025 Business Plan was presented and approved in principle. The Business Plan provides an overview of EG’s approach to planning, illustrates how the Business Plan will be structured and organized, and profiles key activities for 2025.
Several Development Services items were on the agenda: 

Engineering and Public Works shared a report on an Asset Management and Water Quality Improvement Partnership Project in the town, as well as a report on LED Streetlight Conversion Strategy Update. 

A look back - Council Meeting September 4, 2024, 2 p.m. 

A Development Services Memo for Part Lot Control Exemption was brought forward, as well as several Minutes and By-laws from previous meetings.

East Gwillimbury Sports Complex Closure
The EG Sports Complex at 1914B Mount Albert Road will be closed on September 17 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for further maintenance. Ice rink users outside of the specified times will not be affected. The Customer Service desk at the Sports Complex will not be available. For assistance, visit the Customer Service desk at the Civic Centre at 19000 Leslie Street between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Fall Program Registration is Open!
Fall program registration is open to everyone. Choose from a variety of fitness programs, art programs, activities, and PA Day camps. Visit www.eastgwillimbury.ca/Guide to view the guide and register for exciting fall programs to stay active.

Autumn of Openings
Join EG to celebrate the start of a new season with various parks and trail openings throughout Town! Join us on:

  • September 17 at 9 a.m. at King Street Park, 351 King Street
  • September 25 at 5 p.m. at Queensville Trail, entrance at Petal Avenue. Celebrate and walk along Queensville’s first trail.
  • September 26 at 10 a.m. at Emily Park, 35 Thompson Drive
  • October 1 at 6 p.m. at Sharon Hills Park Tennis and Disc Golf Course, 191 Colonel Wayling Boulevard. Check out the new tennis courts and learn how to play disc golf from experienced instructors.

September Barrie Line Changes
Metrolinx has announced upcoming temporary service adjustments on the Barrie line. See the affected dates below:

  • Monday, September 16 to Wednesday, September 18
  • Saturday, September 21 to Sunday, September 22
  • Monday, September 23 to Tuesday, September 24
  • Monday, September 23 there will be no service at King City Station

Did you know that the Farmers Market runs until October 10? Fire Prevention Open House
Join the Fire and Emergency Service team on September 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Queensville Fire Station, 1590 Queensville Sideroad for the Fire Prevention Open House! Learn about Smoke Alarms and how to make them work for you. Enjoy a FREE BBQ, truck tours, door prizes and more!

Shuttles to and from the event will be available throughout the day at:

  • East Gwillimbury Sports Complex, 1914B Mount Albert Road
  • Queensville and 404 car-pool, Park and Ride

The first shuttle will leave at 9 a.m. from the EG Sports Complex and then travel to the Queensville and 404 Park and Ride. The estimated time per trip will be 30 minutes. The last shuttle is scheduled to leave the fire station at 3 p.m. This shuttle will also have an undercarriage to accommodate and hold strollers.

Anchored in History: A Celebration of Holland Landing
Join the Holland Landing Community Group on September 14 at Anchor Park at 88 Doane Road from 1 to 4 p.m. for some park fun. Learn about the history at Anchor Park, enjoy kid’s activities, firetruck demos and more! Please bring a donation to purchase food from the local Lions Club BBQ. Learn more about York Region Transit’s (YRT) improved On-Request service on Tuesday, September 17 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mount Albert Lions Community Centre, 5057 Mount Albert Road. Join YRT for a presentation about On-Request services being planned in East Gwillimbury. Learn how to use the service, make connections to neighboring towns, technology updates and improvements for booking rides and ask questions to the transit experts.
