Highlights from the September 6 meeting:
Housing Targets – EG was asked to commit to 4300 new units by 2031 as part of the province’s new housing targets. Staff indicated that this target is considered reasonable based on EG’s past growth and available allocation. However, there are many external market factors that influence how and when development occurs that are outside of the municipality’s control. The province has asked for EG to commit to the target by October 15, 2023. Council indicated their support for efforts to increase housing availability but did not make a decision on this item and will discuss it further in a future meeting.
Mount Albert and Holland Landing Downtown Revitalizations – Staff presented the results of the public information centres that were held for these projects in June. Council endorsed next steps and staff continue to work with the consultants to finalize the design of these projects.
