East Gwillimbury Sports Complex Closure
The East Gwillimbury Sports Complex and Customer Service desk inside of the facility at 1914B Mount Albert Road, will be closed on September 11 and 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for maintenance. Bookings/rentals outside of the closure will not be affected. For assistance, visit Customer Service at the Civic Centre at 19000 Leslie Street from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Test your Smoke Alarm Day
 September 28 is Test Your Smoke Alarm Day in Ontario! How can you keep you and your loved ones safe? Know these quick tips:

  • Test your smoke alarms once a month by pressing the test button
  • Change the batteries in your smoke alarms once a year or when the battery is low
  • smoke alarms should be changed every 10 years

The new Health and Active Living Guide is now online! Fall program registration is open for everyone. Choose from a variety of programs, activities and PA Day camps including:

Visit the Farmers Market every Thursday
Did you know that the Farmers Market runs until October 10? Come pick up your fall favourites every Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. and enjoy artisan vendors, seasonal vegetables and fruit, and live entertainment. Nature Day

Fire Prevention Open House
Join the Fire and Emergency Service team on September 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Queensville Fire Station, 1590 Queensville Sideroad for the Fire Prevention Open House! Learn about Smoke Alarms and how to make them work for you. Enjoy a FREE BBQ, truck tours, door prizes and more!

Shuttles to and from the event will be available throughout the day at:

  • East Gwillimbury Sports Complex, 1914B Mount Albert Road
  • Queensville and 404 car-pool, Park and Ride

The first shuttle will leave at 9 a.m. from the EG Sports Complex and then travel to the Queensville and 404 Park and Ride. The estimated time per trip will be 30 minutes. The last shuttle is scheduled to leave the fire station at 3 p.m. This shuttle will also have an undercarriage to accommodate and hold strollers.

Anchored in History: A Celebration of Holland Landing
Join the Holland Landing Community Group on September 14 at Anchor Park at 88 Doane Road from 1 to 4 p.m. for some park fun. Learn about the history at Anchor Park, enjoy kid’s activities, firetruck demos and more! Please bring a donation to purchase food from the local Lions Club BBQ. Learn more about York Region Transit’s (YRT) improved On-Request service on Tuesday, September 17 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mount Albert Lions Community Centre, 5057 Mount Albert Road. Join YRT for a presentation about On-Request services being planned in East Gwillimbury. Learn how to use the service, make connections to neighboring towns, technology updates and improvements for booking rides and ask questions to the transit experts.

Halloween Costume Donations Needed!
Have your kids outgrown their Halloween costumes? Donate them to the EG Library! The Library is hosting its second annual Halloween Costume Swap where donations of kids’ and teens’ costumes are accepted for families to come choose for free.
Donations will only be accepted at the Holland Landing branch starting September 6. Please wash and dry costumes before donating.

Costumes will be available for families to choose from on Tuesday, October 8 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Holland Landing branch.
