Covid-19 Updates - A staff memo was presented to Council outlining key Town COVID-19 updates. Items covered in the Memo include capacity limits in select locations increasing to 100%, the vaccine certificate and Verify Ontario App, proof of vaccination requirements for entering Town recreation facilities, and Town events. 2022 Business Plan and Budget Process Underway - Staff presented the proposed 2022 Business Plan and Budget.
The presentation included an overview of the COVID related impacts such as reduced revenues as well as cost savings. COVID related funding from the federal and provincial governments was also reported.
The Town remains in a solid fiscal position – debt free and the lowest relative taxes in York Region. For 2022, an operating budget of $42.3M and a capital budget of $21.8M are proposed. EG Expresses Interest In Being The New Home For The Planned Southlake Hospital Expansion - Southlake Hospital is planning to construct a new facility at a new site. Staff presented an Advocacy Strategy for East Gwillimbury to be considered for the new hospital location and Council supported this effort.
EG Staff pointed out the community benefits including access to health care and employment opportunities, reputational benefits and long-term economic benefits in the health care sector.

Final 2021 residential tax bills have been mailed and payments are due on October 29. Payments can be made at the Civic Centre, at your bank, online/phone banking or through a preauthorized payment plan. Please contact the Town at 905-478- 4282 or send us and email for any questions.

EG is seeking feedback on snowmobile use in town. The Town would like to hear from EG residents on where and when snowmobile use should be permitted. November 1-7 is Carbon Monoxide (CO) Awareness Week and Emergency and Community Safety Services wants to remind you to check your CO alarms and inspect all fuel-burning appliances at home. As you are cleaning up your gardens and yards for winter, make sure you are checking for LDD egg masses! LDD egg masses are oval in shape, tan in colour and fuzzy in texture. They tend to be on tree trunks and on the underside of branches and leaves. To reduce the LDD caterpillar population and damage done next year, it is important to remove these egg masses now.
